There are more beers on the shelves than there are words on the menu. Hundreds, in fact. Fridge space is tight, so you’ll find only the best (and sometimes weirdest) brews from the UK and beyond. Whether you’re after a barrel-aged stout that tastes like despair and woodsmoke or a double dry-hopped tropical IPA that might actually levitate you, they’ve probably got it. And if they don’t, they’ll recommend something better.
This is where beer lives its best life. The tables are small, the lighting is soft, and the drinks are served with respect but not ceremony. It never tips into beer-wanker territory, and the staff are the type who’d rather pour you a great pint than name-drop obscure Scandinavian breweries.
If you’re after a classic pint of bitter and a grumble about the telly, go elsewhere. But if you want something bold, rare, or brewed in a garage in Bristol by a bloke called Steve who only makes 30 litres at a time, you’re in the right place. Vessel is a modern Plymouth landmark for people who take their beer seriously but still know how to enjoy it.
Plymouth on Tap wouldn’t be what it is without the sponsors who get behind it and back the bigger ideas, so a huge thank you to every business that’s already supported the project and helped keep it moving. Your support helps cover the real costs of running it properly, and it means I can keep shining a light on Plymouth’s pubs, telling their stories, and giving the local hospitality scene the attention it deserves.

If you fancy putting your name behind something people actually care about, I’m always up for chatting about sponsorship for events like a pub crawl or the annual Plymouth’s Favourite Pub competition, which reached 6.9 million views on the Facebook page in 2025. Drop me a message and I’ll send over the options.
