This isn’t a list cobbled together from TripAdvisor or blagged press releases. These are pubs I’ve actually walked into, ordered a pint, and formed an opinion about. Some were brilliant. Some were tragic. All of them are here, judged in the cold light of day (or under the warm haze of a decent session).
Some pubs just hit right. Maybe it’s the pint, the people, the carpet, or the fact they didn’t try to serve my beer with a fruit salad. I don’t pretend to be neutral, I’ve got my go-to spots and a few I’d happily never see again. This isn’t a democracy, it’s a pint-by-pint account of where I’ve actually been. If you disagree, good. Go and prove me wrong over a round.
I’m slowly working my way around Plymouth one pint at a time. If your favourite isn’t here yet, it’s probably on the list. If I’ve already been and haven’t written it up, give me a nudge. I’ll either crack on or quietly avoid it. You’ll figure out which soon enough.
Plymouth on Tap wouldn’t be what it is without the sponsors who get behind it and back the bigger ideas, so a huge thank you to every business that’s already supported the project and helped keep it moving. Your support helps cover the real costs of running it properly, and it means I can keep shining a light on Plymouth’s pubs, telling their stories, and giving the local hospitality scene the attention it deserves.

If you fancy putting your name behind something people actually care about, I’m always up for chatting about sponsorship for events like a pub crawl or the annual Plymouth’s Favourite Pub competition, which reached 6.9 million views on the Facebook page in 2025. Drop me a message and I’ll send over the options.
